I've not had home-made mee hoon kueh for the longest time. The only person that has cooked mee hoon kueh for me is Mama.
Yesterday, when Boonyee's mom informed the family (via Whatsapp!) that she'll be cooking mee hoon kueh for dinner, I felt really excited inside. Not too sure why then, but I was looking forward to dinner.
It was really, really good. It deserves a 'gourmet mee hoon kueh' status!
I'm still thinking about it today. Partly because it's really delicious; another part is because it reminds me of Mama. It's a heartwarming feeling...
I kinda regret not learning how to cook her signature dishes when she was still around though. But I think, as long as I keep her in my heart, I'll be able to cook up something good too :)
