Finally! My travel log about Santorini begins!
After a good night rest, I woke up with such excitement! I remember rushing to the door, opening it and went OH.MY.GOD. I was staring at the hugest mountain I've ever seen right in front of me. I was in awe!!!!! My heart literally skipped a thousand beats :)
The sun was very very strong though, but who cares! I just pop on my sunnies and enjoy a glass of vitamin C gege made for me outdoors. Ahhh, this is life :)
This is the unit we were staying in. I super love the architecture.
While walking towards the main entrance. Land, land and more land...
This is the view from the main entrance:
We decided to have our first breakfast at Sandy's Cafe:
I tell you, her bacon omelets is to die for. OHHHH I MISS IT SO MUCH!!! I also love her toast/bread... super light and fluffy on the inside, and crunchy on the outer layer. Topped it up with a generous amount of Lurpak butter, ooooh, heaven :) I'm not joking.
After a hearty breakfast, we decided to roam the streets. This is the mountain right outside of Sandy's Villa. The wind at Santorini is super strong... Now if you notice the mountain, there's a portion that it's caved in?
There's a small white chapel smack right in the mountain! The following is the zoomed-in image. I really wonder how they built it. So very interesting.
Before our trip to Santorini, Gege booked a car via email. The booking system was super simplified. Just a few emails saying "I want to book a car from when to when", and the person-in-charged replied, "OK we'll be there on when and what time". When we were waiting at Sandy's Villa, Gege did said he was worried that the car rental company wouldn't show up. But after a while, a handsome, neatly dressed chap appeared prepared with documents and credit card terminal thinggy. Signed the relevant documents and he took us to the car parked right outside of Sandy's Villa. I can't remember how much was the rental, but it was definitely way cheaper than what Olympics Travel were offering. There's also alot of car rental companies around Sandy's Villa area so you can always rent a car when you arrive. No worries at all.
So the first place we went to with the car? Perissa Beach. Only 5-minutes away from Sandy's Villa. You can also opt to walk to Perissa Beach.
Now one thing I'd like to point out about beaches in Santorini, is that these beaches are not meant for sunbathing at all. Why? Because they are volcanic rocks.
Pebbles, rocks, you name it. Unless you're hulk or the Thing from Fantastic Four, you wouldn't enjoy lying on these beaches.
But the ocean, man... now I know why they call it the deep blue sea. It's amazingly blue!
Snack by Perissa beach:
The food here is uber awesome by the way! Been pigging away for the entire trip!
Next up: Sunset Cruise :)
